How do I start an art gallery in akron ohio? I suppose you'd want to find a space and some artists. Voila. You have an art gallery. I can't say I'd come. But if you opened one in Canton I would. go to the bank to get aloan for a busn. tell them what u want go find a building that would suit your needs and find the artist form around the world. and charge addmisoin prices . first you would need to find some artist's to represent. then, you'd probably need a framer, unless you were going to do that yourself. if i were you, i would go around to other gallery's and ask them how they got started. i bet they would have some nice tips for ya. btw-i work for an art publishing co in cleveland. i'd come. you might even go to akron u's art dept and talk to someone there, i'm sure they could help you out. Another route may be to go to colleges/universities in the area & check out their art departments/galleries. Perhaps someone there could point you in the right direction. If you have a backround in Art and can visualize what type of art you would prefer to show. 1. One of a Kinds (original paintings) 2.serigraphs (usually numbered prints) or 3. litigraphs that are embelished by the original artist, Second contact an existing Art Dealer or Broker (i.e Park Gallery West.) You may then be able to obtain some artwork on a consignment basis. It would be a good beginning if you could give an example to where you would show the art. Picture of location, type of area Art interest etc. check out your local yellow pages for Art Auctioneers or Dealers. |
