How much does an art gallery get in commission?

Last I heard, it was 20%

depend upon type of art . it means colorful art gets 20000 or more whereas black and white gets 10000 or more
Gallery commissions can range from 30% - 50% on consignment. Most common is 50% commission.
usually 40%-50% some higher, but not commonly and some lower, but not commonly...
any artist worth his salt prices his work accordingly and does not cut any special deals for work sold outside the gallery, in other words buying from the artist directly instead of through a gallery that represents that artist will not save you one penny.
i like to think i am an artist, but then maybe i'm just a full of himself hack
