I want to open the art gallery ( especially painting ). How do I begin??? You need some start up cash, of course. You need a nice gallery space that is in a high traffic area and the area must be in a place where ppl are interested in art, you don't know how many ppl I know failed because of that. You need to get in touch with a lot of artists, who would be interested in displaying their stuff in you gallery. You will also need a niche and a back up plan, maybe you could offer drawing or craft classes to draw attention to the gallery, a yearly craft show or contest- theres a gallery here in Boston that has a yearly show selling art for just $100 , it draws attention to your gallery. I want to open an ART school! letz rob a bank together;) what say? if your talking about your own property for art gallery, then you need the funds.... then you can set up however you want if you mean that you want to have your artwork displayed in an art gallery ie a show, then you need to make contacts with people that own or work in galleries in your area. next they will want to see your portfolio and then its up to them to decide wether or not your work will be displayed.... hope this helps, good luck Are you currently enrolled in classes? If so, you could speak with your instructors on how to get started. Or....you could start small with craft/art shows by renting a booth and seeing how you do as far as sales before you dive right in. If you are really confident, and really wish to dive right in, you will probably need a small business loan. Good Luck! The best thing to do is apply for a grant/loan, preferably art specific, so that you can rent/buy a space. Then you need to get the actual art collection from unknown local artists (best way to start off), and then work your way up, when you are a more established gallery, more well known artists will aplly to show at your gallery. You need the grant money also to publicise your gallery so that you will get more works and visitors, volunteers, donors, patrons etc. It really helps to have a business degree or good entrapreneur skills to run a good business otherwise it's very hard.
