How do art gallery directors decide to place certain pieces together?


There's generally a flow, and I was just curious about it.

Many hangers look at all the pieces and arrange them as a linear composition just as an artist would lay out a canvas. Textures, colors, opposites, alikes...and so on. There needs to be a sense of order, motion, dynamics, etc.
