having trouble finding some career direction, and ive done months of research already!!:) just wondering if anyone can give me their suggestions..
interests: on one side i am interested in creativity and technology, involving stuff like:
photography and art,
graphic design and computers,
music and writing/reading etc etc,
but on the other im also interested in the environment, so stuff like geology and animals interest me..
ive got ok people skills but probably wouldnt want to be talking with customers etc 24/7...thanks for any suggestions!!! I'd answer this question differently, and more pointedly, depending on how old you are, and if I knew what your experiences have been, so without knowing that, here is my advice:
Don't dwell on choosing a Career. Decide what you might like to do right now, what skills you have that you enjoy practicing, and then go find places where you can do that. In other words, map out a block of time where you can actually pursue the things you mentioned, either as paid work, volunteer, or in your free time. For instance, get a paid job in graphic design, take a class in photography at an art museum, spend 1 night a week as an intern at a local radio station, and spend a weekend morning working at a wildlife rehabilition center. See how that works out for 1-2 years.
You need to just get on your way, following your heart, and let the pieces of your 'Career' fall into place on their own. u should be a park ranger in a national park. they dont have to talk to ppl 24/7 and they get to deal with animals and nature.plus u get in free. go into biology research (if you have a degree in bio) |
