Please help, cali com. colledge?

so im from hawaii and i want to go to colledge in cali. i dont have residency so id like it to be a comunity colledge with housing. the areas i like are santa cruiz and santa barbra. im interested in photography and all the "arts"

Best bet if you wanted to attend school in California would be for you to attend a CC in Hawaii first, then transfer to a college/university. As a non-resident, you would have to pay $20/unit plus another $173/unit, meaning you would be paying almost $2300 a semester on classes alone, not including books, housing, transportation, etc. Lets put this in perspective; I attend a CSU, I'm paying only 1500 this semester for my classes. To become a resident, you have to live in California for at least one year and a day. Since you're interested in the arts, and seem to want to study it, you'll want to invest in an education that you won't end up oweing a lot of money. So like I said, best thing to do is to attend a CC in Hawaii first, then transfer if you're really interested in California. Hope this helps, good luck.

You mean California, not Cali, Colombia. Who knew? Being from Hawaii you'll be charged out-of-state tuition unless you move here and work for at least a year to establish residency. The system is not easily duped: doing things to appear to have resided here to avoid paying out-of-state is usually discovered. To find community colleges, try this website:
