Photography/Art Help?

For the word ''Barriers''. When you hear the word barrier, what do you think of or what pictures come up in your head? I need ideas on how to expand on the word barrier or what i could get or take photos of. Themes on how I could expand on this word would also be useful.. for example, social barriers, great barrier reef etc...
Ideas for photography and theme of barriers would be more useful than pictures/links. Thanks.
Originality helpful.

Some of the more obvious ones would be fences and gates. If you live near the country a really great shot could be a perspective shot of a fence trailing off in the distance, or an old falling down gate, BW and Sepia really make these stand out. Children are also great for this theme. Small children and out of reach objects, i.e. cups, toys, cookies. Shoot down on them or shoot up from the ground and get some great perspective. Social barriers could be non-handicapped accessible buildings or parks or other entities or picket lines or protests with a police presence, that might be a little more difficult depending where you live. It also could be as simple as road signs, construction sites or even crime scenes with the tape up. You could get artistic and pose a shot where your model is trying to "break out of the box" using the actual photo as your barrier. Just some ideas, I hope some will work for you.

I would get a hold of some police tape and have fun blocking stuff to take photos. That way it's very flexible, you could have humorous shots and serious ones.

The reef was the first to come to my mind. The Berlin Wall. The Great Wall of China. Any fence (chain links are interesting). Prison walls or fences with barbed wire. Doors of all sorts. Signs (No Entry, Keep Out!, Members Only). Cages. Aquariums. Baby/Pet barriers. Gates.

Guess I think of actual as opposed to social.

Like the Great Barrier Reef idea.

How about canyon walls and wide rivers?

Deserts and sand dunes.

Fences.

Thought maybe about ocean shoreline, but maybe that is more a sign of adventure and exploration.

Hi, I'm guessing you are doing your art/ photog GCSE??
This may be a long shot, (but very likely,) ask your teacher if you could look at last years A level work which was boundaries. It is a very similar title and the work may give you some more ideas.
10/10 for resoursfulness, good idea to discuss in a forum!! Try the following........

A) The best thing you can do now is take general photographs of things you associate with barriers.

B) Try all of the different techniques you have learnt this year. Slowing the shutter speed? using different apertures????, etc....

C) Research the artists named in the paper and any websites you have been given.........

D) Make notes of your ideas.. ....

Most importantly enjoy and continue to develop your ideas with the work that is the most effective/ successfull.

Good Luck, hope it all goes well!!!
