Is this effect cool or cheesy?

I used photoshop to make a mask and a gradient to have the right side of the image more colorful (saturated) than the left in order to highlight the people in front. Is this 'cheating' at photography? What do you think of the image?

Had you better matched the color balance and contrast of the overlay to the background image, it would have been seamless and indiscernible. As it is, I guess it IS kinda' cheesy.

I am disappointed that you lied to someone in authority.

That is a boring picture and not worth your time editing it. Looks at your other pictures...I have to believe that you can find something stronger.

cheezy its to plain u know well just try to make it more interesting

I think it has nice composition and the gradation is subtle and nice.

The subjects closest to the camera are out of focus. If they were in focus it still wouldn't be of much interest IMO.
