鈾?Should I Change My Major...?

i've been thinking about changing my major from business administration to photography.
i originally wanted to go with business admin. because it's a pretty flexible degree, i could go into anything with that, and make a lot of money i guess. and my parents would be more approving. but business isn't something i'm passionate about. i'm passionate about the arts, more specifically photography, and would like to learn more about it than i know now. living an "artist's life" is something i've always dreamed about, but i know there is no financial stability in that. and i've discussed this briefly with my father, and he said he'd be upset if i changed my major (btw, neither he nor my mother is paying my tuition, i am). but i don't know what i should do...should i play it safe and stick with business administration (which could very well lead to a good, stable life), or go with something that i'm passionate about and makes me happy, even though there may not be much money in it?

I can't tell you what to do, but here is what I did when faced with a similar choice.

I started college as a biochem/pre-med major. 2/3 of the way through I found anthropology. I loved it and still do. I changed my major. Then, when I started looking at the life I'd lead after college and what that meant in terms of my long term goals (ie starting a family and being financially secure in doing so, paying back student loans and living in my own home vs. renting) I realized that anthropology was not the way to go. Of course, by this point, I was already 1 semester away from graduating.

I added nursing. I have always felt I wanted to do something medical and nursing doesn't require as much time as medical school but yet will provide me with a good living and the ability to fulfill some of my goals. Since I was so close to finishing anthropology I kept it as well. If I had been more than one semester away from finishing I would have simply minored in anthropology. I can still have it as a hobby and read about it as much as I want in my free time afterall.

I guess it all depends where your priorities lie. For me, my end priorities are with having a family and being able to support that family. I still want a job I enjoy and to be passionate about something but those things are secondary to family for me. So, decide where your priorities lie and you'll have your answer.

I'd go with both. Make one a major and one a minor. I don't know how that will get worked out financially and all, but if you do both then you can work within your passion and within the lifestyle you want.

My major is video game design.

Do what you love.

Just making money alone does not bring out happiness in an individual.Pick something you'd really love to do,by doing such it shouldn't be hard.To give it your all by doing the things that make you very happy.
