What are my chances of getting into Yale? |
I have a 4.0 unweighted, 4.6 weighted GPA. My SATs are 660 reading, 650 math, 560 writing, and I'm going to retake them soon. I am president of Photo Club, Youth Rep at church, and hopefully Historian of NHS. I volunteer at the library over the summer, and have been in track 2 years (though neither was varsity level). With your current SAT scores, virtually nonexistent, unfortunately. You'll need to shoot for 700+ in all sections. If you can manage that, it comes down to how well you can present yourself and what kind of class composition they're looking for when you apply. Remember that there are always more qualified candidates than there are spots, so have some solid backups in mind. You have an excellent GPA. Keep that up. You need to improve your SATS though. So study very hard and try taking some kaplan or princeton classes if you can. Also try to get good letters of recommendations. Try to do some more volunteering, because Yale likes students who do a lot of community service. Volunteer in the community more, such as nursing homes for the eldery or community organizations. It's a great thing to write about in your college essays. Your grades are obviously great -- and you will get into some very good universities. Yale is a stretch for you. In fact, your SAT scores may keep you out of the more elite schools. 75% of those accepted at Yale have SAT scores above 2120. |
