I'm doing horribly in Algebra. What should I do?

My grades for this semester are as follows:

Communication Graphic Design - B+

French - A-

World History - A

Photography - A-

Science - B+

Phys. Ed - A

Language Arts - A

ALGEBRA - CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC

Algebra and I just aren't good peoples with each other. I mean, for the most part, I get C's and D's on the quizzes. I've even bombed a couple. I'm surprised that I even have that C being as how few A+'s I've gotten on the assessments, but those few A's are what keeps me from getting a D or F average... ANYWAYS, this week is the last REAL week of school as far as marking periods go because I start finals next week Friday so that week will pretty much be a review week from Mon-Thurs. What do you suggest I do to pass this last quiz of mine before finals? What do you suggest I do to pass my algebra finals? And what do you suggest I do to prepare myself/be able to pass Geometry next school year? 'Cause I'm already looking ahead. I've had enough of Algebra........

I have in algebra final in like a week or so too. What I suggest is you should talk to your teacher and ask her/him if she/he has any tips or ask her/him what you should study. Didn't you get a review sheet? Do that if you got one. Or just go through the book and find a few problems to work on. Ask your parents for help too, if they understand algebra. If you don't understand something when reviewing, ask a classmate or your teacher to explain it to you.

use a ti-89 or any calculator which does symbolic transformations to pass your tests, or simply study harder.

There is no magic answer...
Just study and get a tutor or extra remedial classes
a calculator can help you but so much.. if you want to understand it then you need to study it!.. Good luck dude!

Plan an art career.

Get off the computer and crack open your math book!

You don't have to be good at everything. It's okay. You'll do great. Keep working hard.

Just get a tutor or ask your teacher if he or she can go over it with you one-to-one. Just study, study and study and then you will be an A* student or maybe just better than a C student! Good Luck

This is a typical answer: if you already study, go ask a parent, good friend you trust, or suck in your breath and talk to your teacher!

is tutoring an option, now that school is out for you? i know sylvan's a major one, but you don't have to go to a major one if there aren't any near you. usually, your teachers will know of some tutors in your area.

I suggest you go back through your old quizzes and see what it was you were doing wrong. Find the things that you missed the most and do a bunch of similar problems to those until you consistently get them right.

the main thing in algebra is when solving an equation, ALWAYS remember to do the same operation to both sides of an equation.

talk to your teacher and talk about your concerns to have several classes after school so youcan have a on on one time with just the teacher and if that teacher really cares about its students then she won't leave until you get the point of the assignment!

STUDY ALOT!! I have the same problem, well did but now i have a 91 as my final grade and I took the algebra final today! Haha your still in school and today was my last day. But anyway just go through your papers and ask your teacher tons of questions until you get!
Good Luck!

the answer to your question lies in this riddle.... is 7X = 21, then what is X?

I had trouble with Algebra in college. I ended up with a B in the class. I went to the teacher for additional help first. She helped me by giving some examples. However, I'm a teacher now and i realize that it's hard to approach a teacher when you have a questions. My recommendation would be to find someone in the class you feel comfortable with that understands the class. They will be able to help answer some of your questions, and since they have the same teacher, they'll know the exact method that the teacher wants you to use on the test.

As far as Geometry goes, it's a lot different from Algebra. You're going to have proofs and theorems. I loved Geometry, but struggled with Algebra.

Good luck with the math.

If your school has a tutuoring department, try to get in with a tutor for Algebra.

To prepare for Geometry, look for websites that teach geometry, read geometry books, and do as much as possible related to geometry. Even if you don't understand it over the summer, it will help in class to say that yes, you have seen it before. Perhaps you can even line up a geometry tutor now to work with you next year, if you feel you will have as much difficulty as did in Algebra.

Practice. Practice. Practice. Do as many exercises as you can. Get a tutor. Maybe you didn't have a good foundation on algebra?
