Should I Stop Going To High School & Go To Adult School? |
My school is pretty much wasting my time. I am a Junior and I only need four more classes, but my counselor is putting me in classes that I already took (nothing that I need, and I did not fail because I made A's in them) and she won't let me drop them all because it is now an AP class, big WHOOP (I took the advanced/honors version). Another reason is because I am sick of HS and I want to graduate right now, I hate everyone in my class and I feel like I am going no where. If I transfer to an adult school,I will graduate this semester and I will have more time to find out what I want to do with my life...which I am sure that it is art related... because although I get good grades in my AP and Honors classes.... I hate general education related stuff. I love making films and I love photography. What should I do? I want to go to Parsons. Are you people stupid? I am not dropping OUT, I am transferring to a school that will make me graduate quicker. Morons. Well,...I think you need to discuss this with your parents since you are only 17. However, while most will tell you to "stay in school" - it doesn't sound like you are interested in becoming a "drop-out" - it sounds like you want to move on with life and suceed. So, I say go for it - but word to the wise, don't refer to people or education as "wasting your time" - don't let a poor attitude toward things ruin your opportunities. Take the SAT early and go to collage. Personally, I would stay in your current High School and hang in there. You want to graduate at the school that you earned all your credits, also, adult schooling sometimes can't offer you all the things that High School can. When I was in High School, all I wanted to do is leave, I hated it!!! But now I wish I could go back and make the best of it, there are so many things and opportunities that I've missed out on because I didn't include myself 100%. Sorry if this isn't the advise you were looking for =) if you only need 4 classes take though and graduate early and take the sat and go to college no since of staying in hs if you dont need to If you have enough units try to graduate early, and start now looking for grants and scholarships, focus there and time will fly by. Also see if you can intern with a photographer and get credit for it. By doing that you can get a great letter of reference, try finding an alumni of Parsons. It's not just about graduating now. I worked with teenagers who were incarcerated for over 20 years, and I can tell you that the school itself is not the real focus, it's figuring out how to continue to keep doing and finish something you really hate. ALL of the kids I worked with, no exceptions, had problems doing anything they hated doing for more than ten minutes. In other words, they hated outside discipline. If you drop out school because you smarter they every......''DING,Frys ready."Which mean you'll end up working in McDonald. If you want to pass High School faster, you'll have to study hard very to skip one grade ahead,or McDonald.Make it all the way threw High School, your grades will have a cause of making good money. |
