Can I use a regular 25 watt orange light bulb as a darkroom safe light? |
Photography, screen printing, darkroom, art, printing 25 watts of unfiltered light is way too bright. you need to put this in a light tight enclosure, which has a window on one side that allows putting a filter gel over it. and even at that you probably will need to put it in a far corner so only a vary slight light can actually fall on the work surfaces. The safe light is just intended to keep you from spilling trays or tripping while working, a kind of sophisticated "night light". If it doesn't take you a couple of minutes to adjust to the low light level, then it is too bright. NO. The use of red light goes with the sensitivity of the film. the spectrum for film has red equal to black and white, it recognizes that color. White light will effect the chemical content of the film and burn it black (overexposure). NO... it takes the correct infra red filter... anything else will fog the film. No. Why do you think it's called a "safe light" ? Yes, it will add an artful effect to your film. Can you use an umbrella to jump out of a plane? Why not! Break the rules, go for the gusto, do inane things. |
