Male Domestic Abuse Sufferers?

Hi. My name's Michelle Snell, and I'm currently studying for a degree in Photography in the Arts. I want to do my final project of this year on the problems of domestic abuse. Thing is, currently, beaten wives are being highlighted in the news in the UK, whereas there is NOTHING about male sufferers of domestic abuse. I know it happens, and I want to document that, using models. What I DON'T want to do is insult anyone who has suffered domestic abuse. So what I'm asking is for anyone who has experienced domestic abuse to give me some kind of idea of what is was like. In this way I can try and portray an accurate picture.I appreciate that if you're still in the relationship you can't, and I don't want to make things worse for anyone. If you are being abused in anyway, try http://www.hiddenhurt.co.uk for information, both male and female victims can get help here. Thank you so much.

Male domestic abuse sufferers exist. They are in your community, and chances are they are right in your neighbourhood. Many males are reluctant to come forward and seek assistance because of the taboo and stigma involved. Hopefully your studies will open up more awareness. Good luck!

That's really nice thought of you Michelle. I can't help you anyway but I just hope that you achieve this project assignment. It is a brilliant idea!!!

Thank you for trying to help the many hidden sufferers, and congratulations on your choice of an unpopular (politically incorrect) topic. In the course of your work, please don't neglect the men who have been subject to social, emotional and financial abuse in addition to physical abuse. They are 'invisible' and tend to be under-reported, but people must be told. Many men will be grateful to you for this.

HI, I'm not in, nor have i ever been in a abusive relationship, but i'm a psychiatric nurse who deals with many patients who are. You may want to research in you local paper the schedule of support group meetings. There may be a group available for abuse victims. You should be able to get an inside view from one of these. Good luck!

I believe my brother was a sufferer. When he used to describe what he was going thru I told him that he sounded just like a few of my female friends. I agree that there are plenty of male sufferers out there. Good luck.
