Ok im slightly lost in life at present. I graduated in 2002 with a 2:2 in media arts with visual arts as my minor. after uni i went to South korea for two years teaching, then traveled and returned to the uk with some vague hopes of getting into the media industry. Since graduation i have kept up my creative practice though the serious quality of my work is debatable. The media thing never worked out. Anyways right now im back in korea teaching english again saving money for an MA.
I want to work in somthing creative and human be it art therapy/ community arts. So im considering studying visual arts MA to improve my allround skill then studying an MA in art psychotherapy after.
I really want to go to Falmouth art college but i fear my work isnt up to the standard. My only real arts knowledge lies now in photography/ video editing and some animation. Im also considering doing an arts foundation even though i have a BA in media/visual arts. Im very confused. So my question is this........
Does my experience abroad count for anything when applying for an MA?
compared to a professional visual artist ?
Should i take a foundation course even though i have a BA?
So i can learn how to draw, paint make a canvass etc?
Or are my skills in animation/photography and editing enough coupled with my concepts?
My questions are quite vague i do apologise. Mate you sound very confused... What do you want to do most...? Why do another course? Try freelancing or with the money you saved do some voluntary work to get abit of experience! Too many qualifications in the creative industry can make you over-qualified, especially without experience. I was told this when i applied to jobs.
I do understand how difficult it is for you since you haven't worked in design for two years!! If you got a portfolio show it around to companies who specialise in visual arts.. you never know... Goodluck! |
