In need of art inspiration? |
I have to make some posters but the main part of it is to try and use a vast range of techniques and media. Not just paint or photography or computer but printing techniques and using different materials. Apart from the basic sort of things I can't really think of how I can go about doing this. Does anyone have any inspirational ideas? I had to do something very similar as part of a unit when i was studying graphic design. http://www.artlex.com/ArtLex/p/poster.ht... How about a collage (using the different mediums) of major events in your life and entitle it "Biography"...I would like to see something like this from an artist...I think the finished product would be something to see and experience...if you ever do something like this, I would really like to know about it (if you have it in a show or something, I would really like to see it) Start by getting a stack of old magazines and just looking at the pictures for what grabs your eye. Tear or cut those images out and either use them as a collage or just to get your juices flowing... Next, take a walk some place you like to be: the beach, downtown, by a stream or whatever... Collect some items that catch your eye. Pick stuff up: a pebble, a feather, some trash, an old shoe... Then go someplace you wouldn't normally go -- a junkyard, pawn shop, army surplus store or whatever -- and do the same thing. Experiment with diff. art materials and draw diff. things w/ them-things that inspire you- like a TV show (like my sis), or a person, or just every-day things in general. That way, you can choose which material(s) you like best. Or do a blending of these materials. Most importantly, get creative with your approach and ideas and HAVE FUN with it too! a good starting point is a fave artist maybe the colours they use or a sun set have you thought of textiles like fabrics packaging different types of thread string wool for reflection useing acetate you can use Glass paints on this, fabric paints and that stuff you put on and it fluffs up but a tip with that stuff use a hair dryer to fluff it up you can use potato prints or lino cut prints on paper or fabric there is loads of ideas i have an A level in textiles and art if you need any more ideas just ask Screen printing? I love it, it's quick, it's easy, and simple to clean up. Try,the Silk Sceen. Why don't you use all kinds of stuff around the house like old close, or cds or bottle caps. Recycle......." One man's trash is another man's treasure." plus if you use stuff you already had no else might have it or think of using used stuff. Go to my website with all it's variety of ideas! Printing: Get a potato or other hard vegetable and cut the shape you want, dip it in your colour and apply it to your paper. Also, get a white cabbage and cut it in half and do the same, you'll get some great lines and mad patterns this way. you could use mono printing with oil paints, use sewn stitching around the print to highlight. also print using mark making techniques, textiles and recycling things like string or carrier bags...anything really, hope this helps |
