OK, So I need to take my babies Bubba and Harry to the vet.
They'll need a consltation (to see whats wrong) And then I know they'll need anti-biotics. I'm a uni student and I am low on cash at the moment, so I need to know how much it will cost me before I go, so that I know JUST how much to budget for. I am not earning right now, so I'm only getting my 75 dollars a fortnight stipend. This has to pay for my photography print-paper (as I'm a photo-journalism student) which is costly.
I REALISE that it is irresponsible to not budget for my babies, but please know that I have always put them first, where possible. I am quitting dance lessons which I love to save money.
OK OK, enough details.
What sort of costs are involved for two rats, who will need a consultation and anti-biotics?
I live in Australia, if it helps. Costs vary depending on where you go and where you live. Im sorry that I cant give you a specific cost, but this has worked for me in the past.
Call around to your local animal shelters, and ask them if they can recommend any low cost small animal vets in the area (or just low cost vets in general).
They will usually recommend a vet that is less expensive than the rest because its not as big etc, but they often have much more experience because they deal with all the animals from the shelter!
Its a great way to pay less (I know I budgeted before in my area and going to the low cost I actually saved $125 per animal!)
Also, since you have found that you wernt saving a fund, try putting away $1 or $2 per rat each week if you can, that way you will have a special vet fund waiting if you ever need to take them again. im sorry i have no clue you lost me after the first sentence.thanks for the points skippy :-) as costs vary depending on the state or territory you live in, i suggest you ring your local vet and ask for a quote, then ask (if the bill is a jaw dropper) if they have some payment plan. I have all sorts of animals needing care at one time or another this is how I survive lack of dollars and not lack of care for my "babies", I live in Darwin and this is a pretty common practise. I too have rats....lots. good luck hope this helps |
