Who makes the best longe range zoom point and shoot digital camera?

Browse the site suggested by TomTom, as I don't know what YOUR preferences are. Consider the Canon Powershot S3-IS.

If you go to page 10, 11 and 12 of this review, you will see it is compared to the Panasonic DMC-FZ7. To me, it wins on all counts in the image comparisons. The current Panasonic is the DMC-FZ8, but it is only slightly better than the FZ7 in image quality.

They put the Sony DSC-H2 in some of the comparisons, so that might be a worthy contender. See also the H5, H7 and H9.

My daughter has the S2-IS, so I know that's a good camera.

I can't say too much more without knowing what your level of experience is, what you intend to use the camera for most of the time, etc. Feel free to ignore my general information and browse on your own. I thought my comments about the poor image of the FZ7 were pretty specific... Report It

I like the Sony H7 it is a 8mp with 15x optical w/Image stab.
going for around $399. SLR size.

I own a Sony Cybershot DSC-H2 and I love it. 6 megapixels, 12X optical zoom, makes excellent 8X10s when enlarged. Has image stabilizer. Choice of aperture priority, shutter priority or leave on auto. Very good on batteries, and comes with batteries and charger. The price today should be around $300.
