In your opinion, what is the best digital camera under $300?

Im looking into getting a cemera, but have no clue what Im looking for? Can I even find a good one under $300?

I just purchased a Canon Powershot A620 for under $300 after doing extensive research. I picked it because it has an LCD screen that pops open and swivels, the picture quality is fantastic, the movie mode is top notch, there are tons of manual features, shutter lag is non-existent, the price is low, and many sites that review it gave it top ratings.

The only con I can see is the size of the camera, it is moderate unlike the ELPH which is much smaller.

Sony Cybershot is usually a pretty good bet. They make a decent camera and it takes good pictures.

Olympus

Nikon and Olympus are among the best, but also remember that you'll be paying for a memory card ($15-50 on average) and if you don't get a lithium ion rechargable battery (the thin, flat, squarish type) then you'll also have to pay for batteries.
Another thing to keep in mind is that the "digital zoom" isn't worth very much - optical zoom will keep the clarity as it zooms the picture.
Something I learned from my experience is to be picky when it comes to name brands - don't be stingy with the $20 or $50 and sacrifice really good quality

Panasonic DMC-FX01P 6MP Compact Digital Camera with 3.6x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom will be the #1 choice.

Ditto to the Canon Powershot A620...it has excellent picture quality and features.
Canon is by far the best option in my opinion...much better (optically) than what Olympus, Nikon or Panasonic have to offer.
