What is the best 5megapixel Digital Camera out there?

Canon s2 is. if you are a soccar player like your name implys you will be able to close upson the field from the sidelines. They are running around 400 right now. My opinion of course.

Canon rebel is a 6.3 and is and awesome camera

Probably a Nikon SLR. I have a Kodak Z740 that's bad ***, that 10X zoom is sweet. Not an SLR, though.

It depends on what you plan to use it for. Birthday, party, travel, at home quick snaps of your kids, everyday use...a 5mp point&shoot will do the job fine. Canon sd450/sd430, Nikon coolpix s1/s5/s6, Sony sybershot dsc-t1/t5/n1... all these cameras ranging from $300.00 to $400.00.
For sport pictures you will need a DSLR, canon d10/d20, Nikon d50/d70s, MInolta maxxum 5d/7d...You can buy these cameras in a kit that comes with a lens from $700.00 to $1500.00. Good luck.

Don't harp so much on the number of pixels in a camera. It's a stat used by marketing departments to make consumers think they're getting a better camera.

The think that records the picture is the digital sensor in the camera. You should focus on the quality of the sensor in the camera. You actually could have less megapixels on a camera but higher quality pictures with a better and/or larger sensor. The other area to focus on is lens quality, that's what lets the light into the camera -- Canon makes GREAT lenses.

I would focus on Nikon and Canon cameras. The rest of them are playing catch up to these 2.

i have a canon s2is. works great, looks great and even has optical image stabilizer. its kind of big though, and i got mine for $318.
