What is the best compact digital camera available for under $350?

What is the best compact digital camera available for under $350?

The Canon SD800IS is a great camera. It usually retails for $400 but you can find it on sale (and on the Internet) for around $350.

The Canon SD1000 is coming out. It's under $300. Most of the same features of the 800IS but it doesn't have image stabilization.

Another option is the SD700IS, 6MP version of the SD800IS. Canon makes the best cameras. Pick the one that suits your needs and budget.

Check in www.newegg.com this is where i buy electronic gadgets for really cheap price, type the brand u want and search it by megapixel which means to zoom more closely with lively picuters the greater megapixel the better the picture quality, anything above 6megapixel does the work really well.

Hope it helped

The OMNI/DVC/200M, cost me only $250.00 on payments through a company called: Sweepstakes Clearinghouse.. I do think they have a website, too.. And you can pay as low as $10.00 a month, on this, too!! That's the nice part about it!!! However, if your interested you can call: 1-800-762-3302 and just go from there! Mine's a mini, one, too! But,now they have bigger new & improved ones, out!! So , just request the above name and number's and they'll be sure to send you the picture's and "Voucher's " for help with the supposed payment's!! I think the Voucher's are just so you'll order through there company, if you ask me, because I didn't feel like I got any kind of discount, whatsoever!!! I paid the full $250.00 or more with s & H, added onto it!! And those Voucher's are to just get you to want to order from them!! But you dont get your merchandise, until its all paid off!! And their "Good For It" too!!! I have now ordered 3 different items from their company, and it took awhile for me to recieve them, but it went on my TRW, and it also was helpful to get it after it was all paid-up , because of the fact you want the item, so you want to make sure to pay your payments on time, too, so you can indeed get your merchandise after its all paid in "Full" you know!!! Good Luck on your decision making , hun!! Take care! Smile!!!

If you want a compact point and shoot digital camera which is quality in terms of picture, functionality and build. Then go with a Canon A series. You can get a good one for that money and you will not be sorry. I know of several professionals even that carry one with them or snapping.

You said "compact," or I would talk about a Canon A630...

After answering questions here for about 8 months, I finally decided to get a Canon Powershot SD900. I was going to go for the SD700-IS, but they were out of stock everywhere and it gave me time to re-think my purchase. This is going to be a pocket camera to use when I don't want to carry one of my SLR's with me, but I still want really great image quality from the camera. Anyhow, after months and months of reading reviews, the SD900 was my top choice. I found a review in Popular Photography the day after I ordered my Canon that suggests that maybe the Pentax Optio A20 would have been a better choice, but, I don't believe it. The Pentax does have shake reduction, but I doubt this will be necessary in a camera that only zooms to an equivalent of 114 mm and I just can not believe that 10 MP on a smaller 1/2.5" sensor (Pentax) will be better than 10 MP on a 1/1.8" sensor (Canon) that is nearly twice as large.

Anyhow, go here to see the comparison article on 5 compact camera and see what you think. If you really don't want to read reviews, I am still happy that I am got the Canon SD900 and this would be my recommendation for anyone at this point, since it is what I chose for myself. I ordered from B&H Photo where the price is $343 (today) for the SD900. They have been playing with the price point for this camera since Christmas and that's why I say "today." Every time I check back, it's got a different price.

I also bought a 5-year Mack warranty for $50. If you are even a little paranoid or clutzy, I feel that it is money well-spent. These are somewhat delicate compared to SLR's.

I have a panasonic lumix dmc-tz3 on pre- order, so I haven't actually used it yet. However, the features are great. it is a 7.2 mega pixel with 10x optical zoom and 4x digital. It stabilizes hand shakiness and senses subject motion and automatically compensates by adjusting shutter speed to match movement of the subject. The mspr is 350 but I found it for 299.00 on the web at JR.com. add a 2gig sd card and you are back up to 340.00. Also, it takes great wide angle shots when you can't back up any more to fit people into a close shot, and most cameras this size only offer 3-4x zoom. Of course it takes jpeg videos with sound and has about a dozen auto settings for point and shoot ease. My favorite is the baby setting. you input your kid's date of birth once in the cam, and every time you shoot in baby mode after that, it date stamps the kid's age on the photo.
