Hi, what is the best digital camera for taking photos in the night / concerts? Thanks?

I use a Cannon 300D SLR, I really bought it for Astro-photography, and I find it works well for low light and night shots. However, it does not have a mirror-lock, so very long exposures can drain battery power, and it is supposed to be vulnerable to body shake (although I have had no problems with this)
The later Model, the 350D, supposedly fixes this.
Basically, you need a camera that lets you take some control over the ISO, the appature, and the exposure time. Most Digital SLRs have a range of manual / semi manual settings. Depends how much you want to spend really. (Oh, and if you are taking longer exposures, a tripod or monopod is needed.)

any digital camera can do that job. Its up to the user weather she or he have the good tech knowledge ,experience and bits of talent in taking photo during the night time.

I got a Kodak and didn't realise it had a night shot setting ,I took a picture of my daughter and her friend sitting outside and it was dark ,The picture was amazing i took one in night shot and one in normal and you honestly would think the night shot was taken at a different time.
Everyone is going to give you a different camera best thing is try finding one with the specs you like.
A word of warning the Kodak night shot can blur moving items or people so unsuitable for concerts but the sport shot is good for moving objects.
