What is the best digital camera to buy???

Gives a listing of his recommended cameras. He goes into some detail on why they were chosen. Researching the camera is part of the fun of making a purchase that you can live with. Dpreview.com is another good source of reviews. Only you can decide your best camera. Do some online research and go to a camera shop and actually handle the camera. If it doesn't feel right in your hands it won't become the extension of your vision that creates the images you will cherish.

It all depends on your preferences. I like Nikon, and you'll want at least 5mega-pixels. Look for something with a large optical zoom as apposed to a digital zoom. Optical means it actually moves the lens in and out, which is what you want.

Your best bet is to go check out the options at the store, and play with the different cameras. You'll find one that you like.

I would recomend, the Easyshare z710 because of the settings and is 7.1 megapixels. and a 10x zoom. It has creative settings whcih is always good.

Canon is good too, but can be more pricey.
I have a canon rebel and i love it.

You want something that can have the f stops changed, for endless possiblities of photos.

I recently purchased the Kodak P712. It is 7.1 Megapixel and 12x optical zoom. I LOVE IT!!!! It's a great camera. I gave $389 for mine. It has lots of features but, it's still user friendly. When I bought mine, they said it's one of the top cameras on the market. I figured they were just trying to make a sale but, after lots of research, I've found that it is a great camera. Like I said, I bought it and I LOVE IT!!!! I highly recommend it.

Last June I bought a Canon powershot A620, and it's my first digital camera... heck, my First camera ever. What I like about it, it's very easy to use, and I spent a little over $300 for mine. Pictures come out great, and you can take little movies on it. One drawback to it though, it goes through batteries like crazy, so if you may want to purchase this camera, make sure to get rechargable batteries.

My first question would be why do you want a digital?

Secondly, get anyone you want, but those with Schneider, Zeiss, and Leica lenses would have the best glass in them. The word CAMERA only means room or box, the thing that does the work is the lens, so why not buy the best glass and not worry about the brandname of the physical camera. I like Panasonic

Consumer Reports for November 2006 has ranked the Canon Powershot A620 as the best compact digital camera. It is becoming almost a legend for longevity at the top of various consumer lists. It looks like this model has been replaced by the A630, which I would expect to be just as popular. The A640 appears quite similar and shares the "600" series numbering, so I guess it's just another upgraded version of the now-classic A620. It looks pretty much the same except for baing a 10 MP camera.

The continuous drive is a little slower, but the files are larger, so that's no surprise. I own a few Nikon DSLR's and I'd buy the Canon A630 or A640 for myself.

With this camera, you will find the memory card is a cute little token of thanks from Canon, but not much more. Buy a 1 GB Sandisk Ultra II or Extreme III card. You will NEED the increased capacity and write speed to fully realize the benefits of your camera.
