What is the best digital camera available for under $100?

Even though I personally own this ultra compact camera, I would still like to highly recommend the purchase of a Nikon Coolpix L10 for the following reasons:

1. Besides taking well-exposed hi-quality 5 megapixel pictures, it uses a standard set of rechargeable double AA batteries which last a very long time;
2. Has a 3x optical zoom;
3. The flash setting for "red-eye" correction is on the navigator wheel and not within a submenu;
4. It's very small and light;
5. Uses inexpensive SD memory cards;
6. The digital video feature takes wonderful "sound" videos which are noise free. It records the piano very well with it's built-in microphone;
7. It comes with a USB 2.0 transfer cable which you connect to your USB computer port;
8. Has tripod mount on bottom of camera;
9. And the price is a mere $99 [sold at Samy's Camera - www.samys.com, and Staples.com.]

i dont know an exact camera but i can tell you that a lot of kodak camera with about 4 to 5 megapixels are available for that price and they are pretty reliable and will take great pictures. you could also try going to circuit city or bestbuy and look at the open box cameras. i bought a 5 megapixel sony cybershot for 90 open box and it came with everything that was 2 years ago camera still works. i say the best bet though is a kodak just go to your local walmart or best buy or circuit city and you will see a lot more options than online

I would suggest the Fujifilm FinePix A500. The drawback would be a 3 second delay between shots but should give you
very good 5X7 prints. 3X optical zoom, 5 megapixels. Takes AA rechargeable batteries. Battery life above average with this camera.

But, for just ove $100, you could pick up a really fantastic Fuji F20 for $139, and turn in the $30 rebate for an end price of $109. It doesn't meet your requirement for under $100, but you won't be sacrificing image quality or responsive performance. in fact- it's got some of the best image quality of any compact digicam out there. Hard to find reviews on this camera, as the reviewers generally pick up the F30 or F31 which have the same lens, sensor and processing as the F20, but a few more modes.
