All of the major brands are good. Choose a brand that appeals to you. Then you have to think about getting a spare battery, what size memory card, if you want an extended warranty, how much you can afford, what size zoom, if you want manual controls, the size of the camera, finding a reliable place to purchase it, and the list goes on and on and on.......

The first thing to realize is that almost any digital camera will take good pictures. If more people would read the manual more than once, they would be able to take better pictures. Usually, the person assumes it is the camera when it could be them not knowing exactly what to do. Just give yourself more photographic knowledge by doing more reading on the internet.

I really believe buying a camera is an individual choice.
The person needs to read alot of reviews on cameras so they can decide on the features that they really want and need.
Go to the store and hold them so you can see if they feel comfortable in your hands. If possible, take some pictures in the store to check the quality of the pictures.
I can only give a suggestion of what to look for in a new digital camera.
Good Luck

digital camera GUIDE
be sure to check titles on the left side
the guide should answer your questions

I love my Kodak C-330. It takes good clear pictures and videos and I can zoom in and edit. I got it for 140.00 from WalMart

It depends on what you plan to use it for and what price range your are able to afford.

hope all of than helps... God bless

Well if you are going with a good digital that will last at least a year or longer go with a Canon or a Nikon. They are great camaras. My sister in law is a photographer and she uses the Nikon but told me to get a Canon. We took it on vacation and my pictures turned out great. I have some friends who asked who we paid to take pic on our vacation. I now get to brag and say me.
I went with the high end price of $1000.00 but you can go with a lower price as well. Look at the zoom and the different types of pic. you want to take. If you are taking action photos or if you are taking stills. Both of these are major questions. If you want the best all around you may have to spend more money but you get a better product.
With the higher end camara you can get more lens and items to go on your camara. And you can keep it longer. I have had mine now for 3 years and love it. It is still taking photos like the first. I always recommend the Canon Rebels. But you can also go out to Ebay and look for the 35mm Canon Rebels and get the lens for them they also fit on the digitals.
And don't forget to purchase your Memory cards or no pics will happen. I also back all photos up on an external drive in case my computer crashes. Hope this helps.

It really depends on what you primarily want to use the camera for. Overall, though, I'd look at the megapixel (MP) size. The larger the number, the better quality the pictures will look if you decide you want to enlarge them. This is general, of course, because I've seen 2MP cameras take better pics than 5MP or 6MP cameras. Sometimes, you want to look at durability if you carry it with you a lot. However, cameras with magnesium casings tend to cost more even though they're very durable.
I've had great success with Olympus cameras, but I hear Canon cameras are more reasonably priced. Good luck!

I'm no expert, but the Kodak Easy Share is simple to use and got a best buy rating from Consumer Reports. It has both optical and digital zoom, and seems to be reasonably durable. I've been happy, but I'm just a casual user. It does eat the batteries, but I suppose that's pretty common.

my advice is to make sure the viewfinder/screen is large its so much better to see with..also purchase a camera with a good battery life ability...digitals really eat them! you also dont have to spend a lot of money for a decent camera--models change and improve constantly and you wouldnt want to be stuck with a less than perfect one because you overspent. I have a kodak and its okay but my next one probably will be a canon. they seem to have a consistantly better review.

I would suggest nikon, i think the best camera on the market. You can get a coolpix l-10 7 mp. for about $149.00.whatever brand you buy get the highest number of mega pixels you can find. some stores will try to sell you a 5 mp. for hundreds of dollars when in fact they are worth about $80.00 ( nikon.com)

Depends how much you want to spend. There seems to be 3 different categories: the under $200 area; The $200 to $400 range, and then the upper end, under $1000.

I have 2 Kodak cameras (the more expensive is an SLR) and a Panasonic Lumix. I wanted a smallish camera with high megapixel count for overseas travel, but I also wanted hte Kodak SLR for more complicated photos). I am satisfied with all of them, but if I had to do it again, I would have spent more time reseraching the cameras and definitely I would have spent far more time in the electronics stores, using the cameras hands-on to have a proper idea of what the camera can do and how easy it is to use!

Of all the camera I have seen others using, I have been impressed with the Nikons in the $700 to $800 range. They do incredible work for the price.

Sony's DSC-T20 isn't a bad camera for its price. Not only is it sleek and compact, but it has 8.1 megapixels which means a better quality for your photos and you will be able to have it printed out to a poster size and even bigger. Sony's products' quality are good too. I have a few sony products and i was never disappointed with the performance.
You may want to check sony's website (or search for it online) to see the complete features of the camera. Goodluck! =)

It would be useful to know what you want it to do, and what you are likely to be using it for (I mean taking pictures obviously, but of what, and does it need to do anything else too, like take movies?).

For non-SLR digital cameras, I have found the Fujifilm Finepix a really good line - the S7000 in particluar I'd recommend.

Any of the big brands make great cameras, I like Pentax and Fujifilm for pocket cameras.

F-stop

You can get very good quality cameras in the $150- to a bit above $200-in the Canon line. Such as Canon A560, A570, and A630.
The more you read about cameras the more features you'll find out about.
You may want a camera where you don't want to wait more than 1 second to shoot next shot, maybe you'll want image stabilizer to steady the camera. It doesn't take place of a tripod. Manual controls are on many cameras in addition to auto. Maybe you want lots of zoom. I have a Sony only 6 megapixels at 12X optical zoom that gives me excellent 8X10 prints. So no need to get on megapixel hype and think you must have 10 or 12 megapixels. 4 to 6 megapixels is sufficient for most shutter bugs. Most compact cameras are 3X and 4X optical zoom. So just some things to consider.
Lots of zoom would be a Canon S3 IS and Fuji S700.

I personally love my Sony Cybershot. I have had it for about 4-5 years so it is a little outdated, but works amazingly.

3 megapixels is good for me, obviously higher is better but more $$.
Zoom - Don't know exact ## x ## but taking pics at a distance is not that great. For example a concert: if I have nose bleed section seats and want to take a pic. This camera is worse than my eyeballs as far as zoom is concerned. LOL!!

I am also considering purchasing a newer model. I am going to look into getting either another Sony or a Fuji.
