I have a giftcard for $200 at office max. I want one that is fairly simple to operate. It doesn't need a lot of megapixels, I just want something good quality and that doesn't have a long shutter delay. All of the major brands are good. Choose a brand that appeals to you. Then you have to think about what kind of battery, what kind of memory card, if you want an extended warranty, how much you can afford and a reliable place to purchase it.
The first thing to realize is that almost any digital camera will take good pictures. If more people would read the manual more than once, they would be able to take better pictures. Usually, the person assumes it is the camera when it could be them not knowing exactly what to do. Just give yourself more photographic knowledge by doing more reading on the internet.
I really believe buying a camera is an individual choice.
The person needs to read alot of reviews on cameras so they can decide on the features that they really want and need.
Go to the store and hold them so you can see if they feel comfortable in your hands. If possible, take some pictures in the store to check the quality of the pictures.
I can only give a suggestion of what to look for in a new digital camera.

the guide should answer your questions The Sony Cybershot. It rocks!!! Nikon Coolpix L12. It's around $150. Has a 7.1 megapixel sensor, 2.5 inch bright LCD, 3X optical zoom and a lot of usefull scene modes. I consider the Canon PowerShot A630 at $204- close enough to be almost under $200-. Supposedly Circuit City has it at $204 according to Website dpreview.com
Consider Canon PowerShot A550, cheaper than A630.
Same question was asked 15 questions before you. 鈥淏est鈥?is a relative term... it depends on what you need/prefer the most... optical zoom? Optical quality? Low-light quality? Size? Manual controls?
There is, for example, the Fuji A and F series, all of them are quite cheap considering what they offer, and some of them are well below the 200$ mark. Take, for example, the Fuji F20: six megapixels, compact, easy to use, and yet it has much better image quality in low-light situations (where you can't use the flash or a tripod) than many, more expensive cameras:

There's also the A900 and A820, if you want more optical zoom albeit in a slightly downgraded camera (in terms of functions, ISO range, etc., although they actually have higher resolutions):

You might even be able to find the F31fd or F30 models below 200$, in some shops; they have possibly the best ISO performance (picture quality in low-light situations, with low image noise) in the current, pocket-cameras market, but since they're somewhat dated models, especially the F30, maybe you'll find them quite cheap. |
