Is Cannon the best digital camera you can buy?

HELL NO. I rather buy a Sony.

it's not the best....it's one of the best cameras...which r canon,nikon and sony ((my opinion))..

I recently researched various digital cameras in the under $1000.00 range. I talked to photographers in the know that all said that Leica lenses were superior. The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ50K has a Leica lens and is almost identical to the Leica V-LUX 1. With a 35-mm to 420-mm and a 12X zoom the need to herk around extra lenses is eliminated. Both are 10.4 Magapixel. Both are very light weight the Leica is slightly heaver. I equate that to it being a little more sturdy. Leicas reputation for high quality German engineering won me over. It was a coupel hundred bucks more but you usualy get what you pay for! Check out the specks at Leica.com . Good luck!

Asking us what's best is a tough question! Because what's best for me, may not be the best for you! I think you need to ask yourself how you plan to use the camera.

Personally, I love the Canon system! I have a 5D and a couple of pro zoom lenses. The quality of the photos is exceptional! And Canon has a huge selection of lenses to choose from. Plus, I think their flashes and other accessories are top notch. But Nikon also has a huge arsenal of lenses and accessories.

I'd suggest that you go to a full service camera store, if you have one where you live. Tell the salesman what you are wanting the camera to accomplish, and ask for his/her suggestions. Then, make a hands-on comparison. You may fall in love with a particular model! What works best for another person, may not fit you as well.

My two cents worth: If you plan to grow into a camera SYSTEM, either go with Canon or Nikon. You won't have to compromise with either of those systems, but you may have to, if you go another route.

Talk to the shop staff, ask at the camera club, check with your friends. The simple answer the best digital camera you can buy is the one you can afford that feels comfortable when being used & produces results that you are happy with. It like asking with is the best type of food or who makes the best supercar etc. Do some research & try out a couple of your short listed choices at a specialist camera retailer. Then let your heart & feelings decide. If you can afford it the buy it.
