What is the best digital camera nowadays? Any brand.?I answered your other question about specific models already. That is a much more valuable question for you, as simply knowing what brands are better than others will not help you much in selecting a camera for your needs.
However...
This is somewhat out of date, but check this page for a general idea:
Here's a resource for you. Look on down the page if you are interested in point and shoot cameras instead of dSLR's.

Go here http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/stats.as... and look at the second chart - the one that shows interest by brand name. The best brands are indeed the ones in the top part of the chart. And vice versa.
Here's a listing in order by ratings. You can pick out the "better brands" from this chart.

Another good rule. Even if you don't buy from them, check with B&H Photo (available through Yahoo! Shopping). If B&H does not sell the brand you are looking at, don't bother buying that brand. Canon provide a good range of cameras ranging from top quality to reasonable prices.
Nikon are also quite good. The most consistent brand is Canon by far. A few other good brands are Pentax, Casio, and Nikon. Any Canon SD series are good (small, lightweight, great clarity, and rechargeable battery). Most other brands have problems with noise, especially in ISO's greater then 400. Pentax and Nikon make very affordable digital SLR (single lens reflex), which allow you to swap lenses and manually adjust the focus, etc. I would recommend for something small, the Canon SD1000 or G7, and for something more professional, the Nikon D40 or the Pentax 110. Well, the best answer will be to answer yourself what is the best brand on nearly every product name in the world today.
The best camera will mean the best camera one will love to use and enjoy, a camera of ones preference like amateur use or professional use.
The best cameras in the world today of every category maybe ranked best by a certain magazine but not so accepted by another so it is to your own discretion of what you need my friend.
Nikon & Canon are probably the most popular brands in which you may find your best camera but technology has expanded to the four corners of the globe, even an old East German company may have better lenses than both brands.
Sony may have eaten up Minoltas camera division but the world is still in search for the best camera, a tool for photography that may be the best today but obsolete tomorrow ! Pick from Sony, Nikon, Canon, Fugi andOlympus. |
