Which is the best digital camera available in the market?

I'd say Canon Powershot S3...only because I know nothing else in the point and shoot market. Check out www.dpreview.com for great reviews and comparisons between cameras.

Check out www.photographic.com, www.popphoto.com and you will find a variety of digital cameras available---its more on high tech gizmos that can either have a high or low megapixel count, quick or slow shutter speeds, and the memory card capacity----and designs are getting smaller ( for point& shoot types and more expensive for DIGITAL SLRs.

Personally brand wise any one of the following
1. Sony, because of the lens (vario-tessar)
2. Nikon, again because of Nikkor lens
3. Canon, as they are pioneers in digital cameras

The basic requirement should be to go for
1. > 5 Mega Pixel, if you are too keen on exploding your pictures to a greater size (14" X 17", just an eg)
2. 5 Mega Pixel, if you are looking at best of both worlds where you want to explode pictures to higer sizes (8" X 10")
3. >= 3.2 <= 5 Mega pixel, if you are hapy with 6" X 4" prints

The Second thing you need to look out for is
1. Optical zoom, min of 3X
2. digital zoom, min 0, not required , however if present it is an added feature, however not a necessity

Batteries & Others
1. Look out for cameras which function on 2 batteries, that way you go ahead and pick up another 2 for backup. Remember to pick up rechargeables NiMh >=2300
2. Recording small movies with say 640*480 pixel resolution, so that when you make a cd and play it, it comes good, if not really good. With 320*240 pixel the pictures are pixelized on your TV.
3. Ofcourse you would be needing a mic so that you can record sound along with the movie. You never know the Digital camera is probably going to replace a Cam corder, moreover a digi cam is easier to use and much more economical
4. One which supports both NTSC and PAL

the best camera is one that you could not afford. it's made by Hasselblad, has about 37 Megapixels and runs for somewhere around $20,000.

when buying a camera like my Casio buy one that uses a {rechargeable, lithium ion battery} ill explain why a lithium ion battery does not gain a memory like a lot of cordless phone batterys do. You can take 1 or 100 pictures or any ware in between and charge it on and off again they simple last alot longer unless you want to be replacing battery's alot by one of these is my suggestion any of the model line Exilim by Casio have a wide range of quality's from 1 to now 10 megapixs and in many zoom capability's. eBay is a good place to buy these or a simple place to look at them also available at radio shack
