What is the BEST Digital camera to but that is not too Expensive?

I am looking for one that is at least 5. megapixels and is not really expensive.

Nikon D 50 Or D 70s. Best for less.

How much you want to spend?. Not too expensive means different to different people. It could be $100 or it could $2000. So, it all depends.

Bottom line: Stay with brand names. They give you immense pleasure with photography. Nikon, Canon comes to my mind as good names.

All other new comers (may sound like good names but they are new to photography) are just an "also-ran" They may have built their reputation in someother field but not photography.

the HP R817. i just bought one from best buy for 149. it's pretty cool, nice 5x optical zoom and easy features to use. i had a canon b4 that broke twice. this one is way better. of course there are some nuisances, like a proprietary battery, but overall, its the best bang for the buck.

It depends on what you mean by really expensive. Is your price limit $300? $600? $1000? Are you looking for a compact point & shoot, or a single lens reflex camera (SLR)?

The Nikon D50 is the least expensive/best quality Digital SLR you can buy (6 mp). If you want to spend another $150 or so, there's the the Canon Digital Rebel, which has 8 mp. But you have to know what ballpark your budget is first.

I have a Canon A700 and think it is very good. It has a 6x optical zoom and a big monitor on the back. The flash is very powerful, too.
