What is the best digital camera for a novice photographer?

Check the Nikon CoolPix range, they are compact, but fully loaded with many automatic and semi-automatic features which will come handy for a Novice Photographer who would like to produce quality pictures.

You can start with a 4 mega pixel model up to 8 mega pixel depending on your budget. And all models support high quality unlimited Video time with audio, which is limited only by the memory size you buy. Go for a 1 GB fast SD card or more for best results.

I love the Canon PowerShot -- it's tiny, cheap, easy to use, takes great pictures. Has some manual settings to play with, but works great as a point & shoot

I would say if you want a good Digital SLR without it being to expencive or to complicated, i would get the Nikon D50. it is just about the most bang for you buck and produces beuitful pictures. if you want to see an example, go to my web page.
