You might consider the camera I bought myself the Sony CyberShot DSC-H2. Can be bought for about $300, 6 megapixels, 12X optical zoom, image stabilizer, comes with batteries and charger. Great on batteries, makes excellent 8X10s. 1 sec delay between shots. Memory stick extra.

For that kind of money, you should really think of a Panasonic Lumix TZ - 3, which has a fantastic Leica lens of 28 to 280 mm equivalent, with a 7.2 megapixel sensor. Another good camera is the Ricoh Caplio R-5.

I agree with the second poster who said the Fuji Finepix F30. I have the F10 now and I'm extremely happy with it. I do a lot of low light photography and it's awesome for that. If my F10 dies I'll buy and F30. It has very good battery life too.
