What's the best digital camera for under $300?

I recommend checking out the kodak easyshare cameras, they are a good value and definately in your price range.

I've been quite satisfied with the Nikon Coolpix 5MP series. One warning: either you get the handiness of being able to use any AA battery you want but LONG flash recharge time, or you get very speedy flash recharge, but you're out of luck if your Nikon-only battery runs dead.
