What type of digital camera is best for taking wedding photo's? I want them to look professional.?

Wedding photo's are tough because you will be facing a lot of different lighting conditions that change very fast. In this case, you will need a good lighting setup. I'm not talking about the little flash that pops up, i'm talking about a dedicated separate flash system you attach on your camera.

It is very hard to get nice looking photos with the small flash you find on cameras.
First, the location of the flash should not be near the lens because the direction of the flash makes the light look unnatural. Second, because of this you get very harsh lighting and thus your pictures will look just like everyone elses.

A dedicated, attached flash (those big ones that can be angled) are your best bet for getting nice exposures. There are a couple issues with using these however.

First, you have to make sure the camera you are getting has a hot shoe. This should be simple.

Second, you have to learn how to properly use flash (get right exposures, angling flash, fill flash, etc). This will be tough.

The camera you will need to properly use this type of lighting and that has a fast enough response time for those spur of the moment pictures will probably be a digital SLR.

In this case, you are probably looking at <$1500 of an investment plus a LOT of learning.

There is a reason people pay that much money for professionals. It's because they are very good at what they do. If this is something very important, it's probably better that you hire someone rather than spending all this money and possibly not take the photos you want.

The camera doesn't make the photo. Make sure you have good lighting. As long as the camera has megapixel capability you should be fine as long as you have good light. That is why photographers bring lights with them.

I prefer canon. it takes good images. go with canon sd450. have a nice time at wedding.

Well it dosent depend on the brand but the amount of megapixels, the higher the more detail the camera capture, i think that 5 or 6 mega pixels should do it

you need time to learn the camera if you want good shots...hire a pro...cheaper then a good camera setup you only need for 1 day
