What digital camera (DSLR) has the best dynamic range?"Best" would depend on what you are looking for.
For some interesting information no dynamic range, read this review of the Fujifilm S5 Pro (mentioned by Clavestone) where they talk about the option for the user to select the dynamic range as needed.

There is no way to answer that. The ISO standards keep dynamic range close in all the DSLR camera sensors.
Shooting in RAW has the potential of increasing your dynamic range also shooting HR series images and then compiling them in photoshop works very well.
The major players, Nikon, Canon and Fujifilm (and the now discontinued Kodak DSLR's) all perform well and quite frankly it would make the professionals job a lot more difficult if there was no standardization in sensor dynamic range. All of us have more than one DSLR body and we use them interchangeably, so having to deal with different dynamic ranges between camera models would make our job a nightmare. Fujifilm S5 Pro has best Dynamic range (+/- 2 1/2 stops)
Nikon has best metering (3d matrix)
Canon has fastest AF (L series lenses)
Pentax K10D has best color range (22 bit a/d convertor)
Olympus has most all digital lens line
Sony is new kid on block and still finding their feet and place the fuji s5pro it is based on 2 sensor as was the s3pro.this is why it is the first choice for a lot of professional wedding photographers (the contrast between a white gown and a black suit is captured better with this system is the reason they give)ps i have the s3pro and bought it because my main interest is macro and the colour detail is outstanding. |
