What is the best digital camera that will not break the bank? and is easy to operate?

I will warn you do not buy a little cheap one like between $15.00-$50.00 like the ones they sell at Walmart.I purchased a couple of those for my daughters and they were no good very poor quality . I have a HP that I purchased off ebay for $27.00 and it has been great and it is only 3.2mega.I would personally like to own an Olympus with the recharable batteries .They run around $400.
