Whats the best yet affordable digital camera for a noob photographer?

I dont need a 3,000 dollar camera with built in everything and port and starboard attachments. lol. i just need a decent camera with enough megapixles and quality to make my pics look profefsional. im a photoshop wiz but my camera makes things very difficult. i spend more time fixing the quality then actualy editing. i want one with a good lense. thnx

If you mean SLR digital, you can't go wrong with Nikon D80. If you want the bells and whistles then go for the Nikon D200.

Stores have pretty good start up packages(camera body, flash, lens) Check your Sunday newspaper for ad sales.

Reccommend getting 2GB Scandisk memeory card.

If you mean point and shoot camera . . .
Casio Z75 or Z1050 is a great choice, nice and thin, lightweight, shoots photos and video with sound. Easy to use controls and a 2.5" screen to view.

Not too bad. Another thing I suggest is got to Amazon and look at their listmania for cameras around $100. However, those inexpensive cameras are quickly outgrown. The Canon should carry you for a while.

Where were $200 digital cameras when I bought a Nikon 990 for $995. Such is life.
