i have a 7.2 mega pixel sony cybershot camera . when i press the button to take a pic , the camera takes a longer time to actually take the photo. is there any way to speed up the process of taking a picture? The problem is not in the camera. It is in the SD card/ Compact Flash / Memory stick duo pro. You have to change your SD card/ Compact Flash / Memory stick duo pro.
In SDs and compact flashes people change them into the "speed type" to make the saving faster"
-Nikon D70s Kodak easy share works best and is so simple you will look like a pro. Canon was delighting you always. One hint - try to "pre-focus" by pushing the button half-way in anticipation of taking the picture instead of waiting until the exact moment you want to take the picture.
Or, set your camera to "sport" mode or use "continuous" mode. ("Burst" mode on some...)
Or, buy an SLR and be done with shutter lag forever. This delay (shutter lag) is the time it takes the camera to find the subject, focus on it, set the exposure, take the pic, and save it to the memory card. Flash pics may also need time to recharge the flash.
Normally this time is not extreme. If it is, the camera may need repair.
Here's some things that might help.
. Check your Autofocus mode. If it is on Continuous, change it to Single. Continuous is always trying to focus, and may need to try again and again if you move the camera just a little. Single mode finds it once an holds it.
. If your camera has an Autofocus Assist lamp, turn it on. This helps the camera find the subject quicker.
. Make sure your batteries are fully charged, especially if you are using flash.
. Do not keep lots of old pics on the memory card. It takes longer to find an open spot.
. Format your card in the camera after you download pics to computer. This cleans up "debris" left after you delete pics.
. Try to take pics in adequate light. Automatic setup in low light takes longer.
. Use the "half-push" technique to prefocus before pushing the shutter button all the way down.
