Camera Stuff! Wont work! Please help im beg you!?

Ok my camera has pics i want on the computer and i have a laptop,And im trying to put them on the computer.But I plug it into the computer and then i turn on the camera and go to control panel and then go to cameras and scanners...And Then click on the thing that pops up saying my camera thing and then it trys to get pics from the camera But Then it pop's up saying
"Cannot detect camera or scanner,Please make sure you plugged it in right and turn on camera."

And That's What i did.And it wont Work! Please Tell Me What Im Doing Wrong!
Oh And Ive Tried on my dad's regular computer that's not a laptop and It Says The Same thing.

go to my computer and then look for the camera or some kind of letter thing that isn't normally there. Double click on it and drag all of the files onto your desktop or wherever you want them. You can select all of the files by pressing control+all on your keyboard at the same time.

Many cameras are programmed to turn off after a certain amount of time not being used. After you plug in the camera and find it on the computer it may have turned itself off. Try pressing the shutter button half way. This should turn the camera back on and your computer will be able to connect with it and transfer your pictures.
If this doesn't work try a card reader.

Use a card reader. Your laptop may have one built in. If not, buy one. External readers are dirt cheap.

If you haven't installed the software that came with your camera, do so.
And/or try this, when you're on scanners and cameras, highlight the icon that pops up. Hit the add device button below.

Another thing that might work is plugging in your cam, turning it on. Then go to start>>control panel>>hardware and sound>>device manager. Your camera should be in imaging devices or portable devices.
If you find it, right click on the icon and click on "update driver software"

may be if you took the memory stick out and if you buy an adapter for the memory stick with an usb cable that would load them to your computer.

Its different on every camera and computer but what you can try is updating you drivers on the computer or downloading new ones

You are trying to open it from the wrong place.
After you plug it in, it should appear under My Computer.

If you have a card reader, it might be easier.

go onto your camera and make sure you are in the usb setting.
