Why should I buy a Nikon camera with a USA warranty over a gray market version? |
I am looking to but a D300 from an ebay seller. There are many "gray market" cameras with lens packages that are cheaper than the USA warrantied cameras. What is the main difference and what would be the best deal to go for. Is the USA version so much better? Is it the same camera? What is the difference in warranties, etc? Thanks in advance! Many gray market items are not produced by the manufacturer. They are actually knock offs, or clones of products. They may appear the same on the outside, but the inside is a different story. There are some that sell from outside the US using broken or damaged cameras that may not work. Some of these items have been re manufactured and could work, but not for long. without a warranty, you would be looking for a new camera to replace the dead one. If it's not a real warranty, but a counterfeit warranty card, the company won't cover it. The cameras should be the same. Teh warranty is the main issue. A genuine Nikon Dealer is motivated to do the right thing by you, lest they wear the warranty or sanctions from Nikon because of complaints. A gray market dealer has none of those limitations. On a nice camera like the D300, I want to know where it came from. I want to know that it passed all quality assurance testing. I want to know who I can talk to if I have a problem. |

If you want to be a photographer, you really need a photographers camera, called an SLR (single lens reflex). A good starting place for that is the Canon XT, its expensive but you will get blinding... The silver version is available at Beach Camera for $149 shipped (excluding taxes). ... Some of the Canons are in your price range.. I have provided a link for you :) ... eBay or Craigslist would be the best way to sell a used camera. The newspaper or a pawn store would be the worst. First, you should determine what people would be willing to pay for your camera... Look into a Nikon Coolpix or a Cannon PowerShot ...umm. i see ppl talking about their 7.1 and 8.0 mega pixels...I have a very good cam with way less pixels, its simple and picture quallity is awesome. I use the kodak easy share camera. I got the ca... video cameras are so much better than than they use to be. They are all digital now and have memory sticks. Here's a site that has a variety to choose from in a variety of prices. Good luck... Why do you need so many megapixels? Do you regularly make A3 sized prints? 5mp is sufficient to make a high quality A4 print, and is really all that is needed by most people. And what do you... |
