Wedding Planners Need Help!? |
Im a photographer/videographer and I want to work with wedding planners but I need help. Whats the best way to deal business with wedding planners or people who own bridal stores? Do I charge more to pay commision to the planners? Should I let the Planner add her price to my own? I dont know. What common for a wedding planner to charge for commision? I really need help with this. Thank you JC Any wedding planner worth their costs will NOT accept commissions from you. The way a wedding planner generally works is to find out what the budget is of their couple, then they pair them up with a few options in their budget range and help them to meet the people and read the contracts. If you want to be included in a wedding planner's resource book mail them your business card and a letter explaining that you are available at any time for them to go over your portfolio, also include a list of recent brides & grooms they can contact for referrals. Good Luck Source(s): wedding planner Call some of your local bridal shops and other wedding vendors and see if they would be interested in working with you. You could offer them a referral reward or commission for each bride they refer who books your services. Also, a lot of stores will allow you to place business cards in their place of business. It's a great way to market yourself. If there are any local bridal magazines or bridal expos that occur, you can always run ads or set up a booth to get your name out there. Word of mouth is the best advertising though. So, if you have done weddings before, having happy brides tell their friends is the best advertising you can get!!! I heard the some planners add their %% after the bill has been handed over. But you can work on consignment if work comes you can adda percent to give to them. You need to contact a wedding planner and find out EXACTLY what his/her requirements are, and whether you can meet those requirements. If you have already done a few weddings, take your wedding book to the planner to show what you can do. Some planners like to arrange formal photography, others prefer informal shots, and some will opt for a mixture of the two. So show your most imaginative photos as well as the most traditional. The planner usually sets his/her own fee, which is separate from the costs charged by each of the other providers -- caterer, limo etc.etc. You have to tell the planner what you charge for a wedding and precisely what the couple will get for that fee. Good luck with it! No kickbacks. I always like to have a small sample book of your work along with a detailed price list. If you, do good work, and are pleasant and easy to get along with I would pass referrals. If I find you unpleasant and difficult...well then... And the best way you can compensate me is to send me referrals as well. That will really make me want to talk you up! Good Luck! KJ Well, I'm a wedding planner and I work free.
