Don't know much about digital cameras.... I need to get a "memory card"... what's the difference? |
Do memory cards have different make/model numbers for different cameras? ...or can you just buy a memory card for any digital camera without knowing a make and model number? In other words, are they more or less "universal"? There are definately different memory cards for different cameras. I suggest you first take your camera to a place that you DO NOT intend to buy the card and find out which one you need eg. XD, Scandisk etc, they all come with different fitting 'plug' type bits and shapes. By building your knowledge first it puts you in a more powerful position as a consumer- you will then know what you need, and may even be able to bargain. Try to buy your first one from a traditional store so that you can go back for help if you need it. You need the memory card for the camera company and model to take pictures on a digital camera. There is no universal memory card. I had the same question, so I took my camera down to Fry's and they were able to get me one at a reasonable price that worked. There are different types of memory cards. Differen brand of camera will use different types. Only ONE type of card will fit your camera. It will likely be one of these: Compact Flash, Sd, XD, or memory stick. It really depends on what you camera you have. The manual will tell you. Or take your mamera to the shop that sells memory card. They will get the correct type for you Well, the people at the place you are buying the memory card should know whether you should buy a larger memory card. Try cheapest prices search engine. They have almost every merchant on the internet and you save time and money by shopping the internet from one site. |
