How do you play tapes recorded on digital video camera on a video hi 8?

I recorded tapes on a digital camcorder which no longer works (sony trv330) and I bought a sony trv138 which is Hi8. The tapes I made on the digital camcorder do not play back on the new one, which I believe is analog. Ironically, I had an old RCA and the tapes I recorded on that do play on the new one! Is there any way to resolve this problem without buying yet another camcorder?

You are right, the Hi8 camcorder is analog and unfortunately there is no easy fix for your problem. While the Digital-8 camcorders were designed to play Hi8 tapes, the reverse is not true. My suggestion is to take your tapes to a business that can transfer your footage to Hi8, realizing that you will lose the digital quality. This of course depends on how many tapes or how much footage you shot on the Digital-8. If you have enough to be worth it, you can get the Sony DCR-TRV280 for anywhere between $200 and $300. Good luck!

You can't. It lacks the D/A converter chips.
