What's a nice digital camera to purchase?

I have a Kodak which is just OK. Long story short I sent it in for a repair & they lost it & finally found it after one month.They are sending it back unrepaired b/c I told them not to...I'm taking it back (extended warranty) & getting another brand. I won't deal with Kodak again. What other brands are good to buy & why?

In a point and shoot camera, I have a bias towards Canon, but Fuji has a very strong reputation among our users as well.

Go here http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/stats.as... and look at the second chart - the one that shows interest by brand name. The best brands are indeed the ones in the top part of the chart. And vice versa.

Here's a listing in order by ratings. You can pick out the "better brands" from this chart.

Another good rule. Even if you don't buy from them, check with B&H Photo (available through Yahoo! Shopping). If B&H does not sell the brand you are looking at, don't bother buying that brand.

Thanks and good luck shopping!
Happy 4th, too. Report It

i got a pentex. i ordered from qvc, and they dont have them anymore. I got my mom same one from ritz camera. it was around $200. I love it its easy to work

i bought a panasonice dmc fz7 off of ebay cheap and it's excellent.

get sony cameras.......very good pic. quality!!!!

You might have to do a little reading but check out this Website for reviews of cameras from people who own them.
dpreview.com Consider these cameras:
For super zoom cameras:
Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H2 6 megapixels, 12X optical zoom
Canon PowerShot S2 IS 5 megapixels, 12X optical zoom
For general compact camera:
Canon PowerShot A640
Canon PowerShot A630
FuJifilm FinePix E900
For a subcompact:
Fujifilm FinePix F30

Even though I personally own this ultra compact camera, I would still like to highly recommend the purchase of a Nikon Coolpix L10 for the following reasons:

1. Besides taking well-exposed hi-quality 5 megapixel pictures, it uses a standard set of rechargeable double AA batteries which last a very long time;
2. Has a 3x optical zoom;
3. Has a macro feature to allow picture taking under 6 inches;
4. The flash setting for "red-eye" correction is on the navigator wheel and not within a submenu;
5. It's very small and light;
6. Uses inexpensive SD memory cards;
7. The digital video feature takes wonderful "sound" videos which are noise free. It records the piano very well with it's built-in microphone;
8. It comes with a USB 2.0 transfer cable which you connect to your USB computer port;
9. Has tripod mount on bottom of camera;
10. And the price is a mere $99 [sold at Samy's Camera - www.samys.com, and Staples.com.]

Review(s) can be found at www.amazon.com [Query: "Nikon Coolpix L10" along with pictures provided by satisfied purchasers.]

Good luck!

I'm not a big Kodak fan, they are big and bulky and they are are a ROALY PAIN in the BUTT to carry around! if it was money I would purchased a Canon, the most important part of the camera is the Len's! Canon makes one of the best Len's out their! you will get some of the sharpest photographs that money can buy!

Thank You,

Bob

I prefer the fugifilm s700 series digital camera.
It is pricey-$400 at cuirquit city-but well worth it.
this is much mote than a toy-it is extremely professional and can take an individual quite a while to learn all the features it offers.
They even offer optional lenses-though these can be quite pricey as well.
