Should I sell my old film camera (EOS 1)?

I would like to know if the 35 mm filmes wil continue manufacature.
Do you think it is a good idea to sell the old cameras whit good optic system, and try to buy the news digital cameras.

Good Lord yes... sell that thing and buy a Nikon DSLR :-) I still have my old Canon AE-1 and my first camera a Nikon FM2. I have even found old film cameras from the 50's that I have restored and shoot with, surprisingly I use my DSLR for a polaroid camera to check my lighting, but I still shoot film every once ina while. Keeps me in touch with my roots and it's a great refresher tool. There are too many people out there that still and will continue to shoot film. Keep it and have fun with it!

i think digital is a lot better and easier to use, and its a lot less hassle getting ur pics but its up to the individual person at the end of the day

I shouldn't bother to try to sell it. They are virtually worthless now.

I had an old EOS film camera and went over to the EOS 350D digital about a year and a half ago. I can use all my old lenses on the new camera too: that saved me a fortune.

It's definitely worth the change but Ruthie below is right too....

I reckon that the 35mm will never go out - after all photography and the developing of film is something that ppl study and some die hard photographers who love developing the film they have taken photographs with!

Yes go modern, get a digital cam and all the software for editing pics/film, that's the future. You can also transfer all your 35mm film to digital too. But maybe keep the old cam cos it may have fond memories?

Go digital. Film will eventually be replaced by digital.

DO not sell your 35mm camera, keep it there is so much that digital still can not do that a film camera can. If you are seriuos about photograpy than keep your 35. Period.

35mm film will likely be around for many years yet, I would not sell your EOS 1 just because you think 35mm film will no longer be manufactured.

However if you are planning on replacing your camera I would now seriously consider going digital. If you purchase a Canon digital SLR it may even be possible to use your current lenses with the new camera, though I am not certain of this.

If you hang onto it long enough it will eventually become an antique - which may then be worth (some) money and if you hold it even longer it will eventually become a museum piece.

There are two schools of thought here. Many people retain their 35mm systems because they are convinced that the have superior control over the end product.

The range of features in digital cameras is so vast that it is hard to argue against their versatility.

Perhaps the most important question you need to answer is this. If your 35mm camera breaks, can it be repaired?

I would say that Canon and Nikon parts will continue to be available for the near future. Other brands may not have the durability built into replacement parts. I dumped my Pentax PZ1, because the drive gears were not durable, so the autowinder quit.

With the change in the market place to digital, it is possible to buy great 35mm cameras inexpensively for parts availability.

**** the people who say digital is easier.

you can never get the same feeling and look with digital as with film.

Don't sell your EOS 1 ... no one will pay you it's real value ... I would prefer to give it as a present than to sell it for less.

Hang on to the EOS 1. There's no reason you can't shoot both film and digital. Each has its advantages.

Besides, five years from now, when you feel like the 8 megapixel camera you buy today doesn't cut it compared to the monster megapixel camera's of the future, you can get a roll of film for a few bucks and shoot with a camera that takes pro quality photos. The best camera I own is a rolleiflex from 1956.

Depends on how keen you are on photography. Digital always looks unreal to me. A good 35mm camera can achieve much better effects.
