Does anyone know about how many pictures you can take on a 16 mb digital camera?

well im about to get this new camera that is like $100 and the memory card for it is another $50 or so. the camera it self has 16 mb of internal memory and i was just wondering how many pics could i take with just that until i can get the card. or should i get suck it up and buy the card too?

Just go ahead and buy a memory card. You should be able to get 1gb for about $20. Check the bargain websites such as:

It depends on what resolution the pictures are shot. A five megapixel image is around 2MB is size (give or take), so you'd only fit around eight or so pics on the internal card. If they were shot at a low resolution, say VGA, you could fit a lot more, as each image would only be about 100KB or so.

It's kind of the same ideas as with mp3 music files. The higher the bit rate, the bigger the file. With pics, the higher the resolution...the bigger the file (pic).

50 bucks for a memory card? 4gb, maybe. Check ebay...2gb cards (good ones) are getting cheaper every day. 16 megs of internal memory won't last long at all, even at like 4mb res.
