Am I the only person without a DIGITAL CAMERA?

I am still living in the 20th century I guess. What is a good beginner's camera, and what do I need to know about using it? What extra's will i need to buy?

Why don't you try Nikon, or Canon?
My fiance used to work for a while at a camera shop during his semester break, and they told him that for taking pictures, Nikon and Canon are the best.
Sony is okay too, but if you want quality photos, a Nikon and a Canon would really be much more worth it to have it long term.
Plus, a 3.2 mega pixel camera would suffice, because it takes extremely good pictures. You don't need those 4,5,6,7,8,9,10 mega pixel cameras because they'll just look the same on the PC.
Unless you're a professional photographer or you're going to blow your pictures up to a humongous size, there's no need to get anything higher than a 4 mega pixel camera, but don't go any lower than a 3.2 either. :)

The resolution is great, takes pictures really well (normal photos and a few sizes larger as well), and it isn't extremely expensive.
Plus it's good to know that you're buying a camera that isn't too high for you and you're never going to use like 99% of it's functions.
Many Nikons have a simple point and click function where everything is automatic. Canons as well.
You should probably buy a camera pouch to put your cam in, one of those soft, foam pouches would do JUST IN CASE you drop your camera. A mini extendable tripod would be good to keep by your side when you need to take timed shots or steady your hands for a heavy night shot.
Also, if you're not sure how to use the camera when transferring to the PC, you can rest easy with the Nikon. Nikons have this Camera to PC USB port that allows your PC to automatically detect the pictures inside the cam and it's basically almost child's play to get the pictures in.
Also, if you download Google's PICASA (no spyware or anything), once you plug your cam into the PC with Picasa opened on your PC, it's just ONE CLICK for you to transfer ALL your photos onto the PC because Picasa does all the work for you (transfering, etc.), all you have to do is NAME and date the picture folder.
Plus, you can play around with it's super easy controls (like brighten the picture, add a soft foggy focus on your pet's face in a busy photo, etc, all one click), and it won't damage the original picture in your PC because you can undo it with one more click.

By the way, to answer you question, I have a Nikon Coolpix 885. It's a pretty good cam, 3.21 mega pixels.
I also have a W800 Sony Ericsson phone with a 2 mega pixel camera, my fiance bought it for me on our anniversary. :)

Reviews for Nikon cameras can be found below, but I'll quote one for you anyway:
"Long a powerhouse in the world of film-based photography, Nikon has made an equally significant impact on the digital imaging world. Combining Nikon's famous high-precision optics with innovative design, the Coolpix digicams are among the most popular digital camera models in recent memory, as are its Coolscan film scanners, which continue to set the highest quality standards in the professional imaging community.."
Have fun!

No...I don't have one

counting cell phone I have 3

u need to buy a memory card so that u can store ur pics frim the digital camera directly into the memory card

I have one that came with my printer.

what you need to know?
it's simple, a digital camera's just like how you think it is.
there's a printer that you don't need a computer too.

Just try to get a chip one, go to your local stores, and ask about a good deal , normally you can get one for least then $50.00 to star practicing, then you can move to another more sofisticate

NO, i use my dads on occasion. a good starting camera is a vivitar.. i think is what i have. theyre reuseable, and have most features, i just dont think zoom. if you cna afford a digital, get it! youll need a usb port compatable for it, and lots and lots of batteries, i recommend the ones that come with the recharger.. you go through them really quick!

I don't have one either. I have no idea what to buy! I think I'll just keep reading your answers so I'll know too

Go with a Sony. AWESOME CAMERA. That was my first one, and I still use it today. it had a memory stick, a charger with ni-cad batteries, movie making capabilities, plus a lot more. I paid $200 for it. Now you can get them cheaper. Do not go any lower than a 3.1 mega pixel.

for a beginner you don't need any extras, except for a memory card if it doesn't come with one. kodak cameras are great, i would recommend point and soot series to start with. it's extremelyeasy to use them and instructions will guide you through. right nowi have a semi-professional digital camera and i can not imagine my life without it

There's lots to consider. If you are not very good with computers, digital cameras can be useless.

There are many good "inexpensive" digital cameras on the market today. The best thing to do is to check online and compare prices, features etc.

It's good you've decided to try digital, it won't be long before "old fashioned" cameras are gone all together.

After you buy a digital you'll have fun changing the pictures on your computer. There are several good programs for editing and printing. Once again, if you let someone else develop your images, you are only getting partial value. I love digital cameras, you have tons more control over the finished image.

Man, you're waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay behind!

You should start looking for a digital camera. One good thing with a digital camera is that your CF card serves as a film, so you don't constantly have to buy films. Another thing with a digital camera is that you can change the ISO speed, which in terms translates to not having to carry with you many different ISO kinds of film. Another thing is that for the newer cameras shutter durability has been improved to approx. 100,000 shots, which most probably will last you a lifetime. In the above I'm considering middle-end professional cameras, like the Canon EOS 20D, 30D, 5D, which go around $1200 (Body) and up.

Look at Nikon - always a good choice. Most cameras have manual and automatic settings, so they can be used by beginners as well as the photography wiz.

I don't have One Any One who wants to buy for me.

Wow.. no digital camera.

I have four... not including my phone.

The best is a Canon 5D, then a Canon 20D, a Sony F717, and a Sony T3.

I use the T3 when just out and about and at clubs, etc. The 5D and 20D I use for more advanced photography.

If you want a camera, you really have to decide what you want to use it for.

- Are you going to go pro?
If you are then think about a Canon 20D/Nikon D70 as a minimum
- Are you just going to use it for fun?
Consider the Canon Ixus, or Sony range of small camera's.

You'll need some memory cards, and at least a PC! Don't worry too much about the printer yet. You can always take it to a photo store and get them printed. It's getting cheaper and cheaper to use those these days.

No, some people don't own cameras of any type.
