this will be my first digital camera. i am looking for advice or help to buy a camera under $175.00. lol, all new model digital cameras should be compatible with windows vista, so you don't have to worry about that. For that price range I would suggest a canon powershot A570 IS. It has basically everything you will need from a good brand. This camera is very well rated. I'm not sure if it's the BEST camera you can buy at this price, but it's definitely in the top 3. All of them
That said, the software that the company sends with the camera is designed to work with all popular operating systems (Windows and Mac).
