I don't want to buy a new computer mine is 5 years old and working fine. I just got comcast internet and they used the port and unhooked my camera for the router without telling me.
I just found out.
Help please thanks. you can get an adapter to turn one usb drive to four,it costs around 10 dollars Sounds like you need to get an add on card with the port you need. First off, do not believe people when they say, "You can give too much information when dealing with vehicles or computers." You did not say or identify what type of port it was. Now I am going to assume that you are talking about an USB port (I find it strange that your computer would only have one USB). You may not need to buy a card! But you may need to buy an additional USB expansion ports. Computer stores will carry them. They cost anywhere from $9.00 to $30.00. They come in 2 to several expansion ports (the more ports the higher the cost, 4 ports will usually be the cheapest) and get the USB expansions that are self powered (usually with a 2 amp, 5 volt AC to DC converter). By doing it this way with self power and all, it keeps your computer from the strain of providing the 5 volts needed.
You now have 4 USB ports, one for the camera, one for the cable modem and two to spare (they can be chained to gether for more ports, off from the expansion ports that are open).
By the way if I was to have my derothers, I would have my derothers and have a network card installed. This takes up a slot in the computer. It is just faster to have a network/Ethernet installed, USB is a little slower. I know Comcast will provide an Ethernet network card becuase I have had Comcast before, when the network was still called @Home. They provided an Network/Ethernet card. Even though I take it that you are in California and I am in Michigan but we have Comcast in the area where I live as well as WOW (Wide Open West).
I would still get the USB expansion ports anyway, they come in handy. |
