i dont know what kind of camera my parents have, and would like to buy them a photo printer for christmas - without having to ask, it might then be too obvious... is there a product that works with most cameras? If you mean a photo printer where you can "dock" the digital camera onto the printer and not have to print using a computer, then the answer is no. There's no standard interface across vendors.
However, there are photo printers that accept the memory cards used in digital cameras. It means they have to pop the card out of their camera and stick it into the printer. For example, the Epson Picturemate accepts all types of memory cards (SD, compactflash I and II, sony memory stick, MMC, microdrive xD, etc.). It has an LCD preview screen. I'm not necessarily endorsing this model, but it's only $90 and has good reviews on Amazon.
